Reviving an Underground Classic

Hearkening back to where so many great bands were born — the garage — the Fender Mustang 90 oozes that raw, electric rock 'n' roll vibe. Featuring the classic Fender C-shaped maple neck and a pair of MP-90 pickups, the Mustang puts the power and styling of a great electric guitar in your hands. The Fender Mustang 90 offers upgraded features while still retaining that unique Fender look and the rich, fat sound that each generation continues to fall in love with.

A pair of MP-90 pickups

Traditionally considered loud and gritty, the MP-90 pickups found in this Mustang 90 offer a wider range of tones. While the grit and power are still there, they also reach into the clear and clean ranges you’ve come to expect from Fender pickups. A snarly midrange and punchy low end are also available for those times you really want to rock out. Master volume and tone controls, along with a conventional 3-way pickup switch, shape the pickups’ tone for further crafting of your sound.

That classic neck you expect

Topped by a 9.5"-radius pau ferro fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets, the C-shaped maple neck is comfortable for all playing styles. The Mustang bridge features a Strat-classic 6-saddle, string-through-body hardtail bridge, which allows for increased sustain. The bent steel saddles add a touch of “cut” to your tone and are adjustable for spot-on intonation. The 24" scale adds a bit of warmth and thickness to the guitar’s inherent tone while granting a slinkier playing feel, making it easier to perform multistep bends. Players here at Sweetwater agree this neck feels great in the hand and on the fingers and translates chording, bends, and hammer-ons beautifully.
