The Fender Mustang is a classic offset-style guitar, and the limited
edition Traditional '60s model hearkens back to the original
designs. Made in Japan, this high-quality instrument boasts Fender's
signature bolt-on construction and distinctive tone-shaping switches, to
let you attain a wider palette of sounds.
Construction
The Mustang Traditional '60s features an Alder body, and this
balanced-sounding tonewood serves as a fantastic tonal foundation for
its vibrant-sounding single-coil pickups. Paired with a Maple neck,
which delivers a bright and snappy response with its bolt-on design, the
Mustang has a lively upper mid-range that can really cut through in a
mix - clean or overdriven.
Adorned with a Rosewood fretboard, this material introduces some
warmth and roundness, taming the top-end frequencies emitted by the
pickups. Feeling sleek and smooth under the fingers, the neck has a
comfortable "U" shape profile that offers excellent support for your
thumb when fretting tricky chord shapes.
Electronics & Hardware
The Mustang is powered by dual single-coils, that are capable of
really capturing that old-school '60s sound. Projecting focused lows and
a potent mid-range, these particular pickups have a sparkly character
that can really shine with clean settings.
With a pair of switches that affect the sound of each pickup, you can
turn each one on/off and even achieve those distinctive out-of-phase
tones that are akin to a Strat. Master tone and volume knobs provide
greater overall control, with the latter cleaning up nicely when using
overdrive or distortion.
The unique floating Mustang tremolo/tailpiece allows you to add
gentle warbles to chords or licks, so that you can sound like an
experienced surf rocker if you want to! With a traditional bone nut that
adds excellent sustain, the strings should glide smoothly over the
piece when using the tremolo, ensuring that your tuning remains stable.
